Dracaena marginata (Dragon Tree of Madagascar)

Purchased: during my first semester of college (fall 1995)

The Dragon Tree of Madagascar has a thin trunk with long pointed leaves which have a dark red stripe on each side. This plant actually came two in a pot, and I had them growing separate side-by-side for years. They both got a serious pest infestation and only one survived. This plant was the only casualty of the move into my new apartment. It got two gouges in the stem and the entire top was knocked off. I thought the plant would die, since all its new leaves were ripped off, but it has continued to grow and thrive. I added sea glass to the pot in August 2001.
